Tsundere, Yandere, Kuudere, Yangire, Dandere - What's the difference?

Tsundere, Yandere, Kuudere, Yangire and Dandere are five different types of personalities (for girls and boys) that are often used in anime, manga etc. You can recognise them by their behaviour. (In the examples are the characters that I know of)

Tsundere - It's a person with attitude. Usually they start with harsh personality, but slowly they start to show their soft side. Acts very mean, sometimes is violent but inside can be very sweet. They're very moody.

Examples: Taiga Aisaka (Toradora)
                 Fujibayashi Kyou (Clannad)
                 Hiiragi Kagami (Lucky Star)
                 Haruno Sakura (Naruto)




Yandere- They can be described as stalkers. These people can look cute and innocent but they can be highly dangerous. They would kill or attack everyone that will stand against or in between their love. These type of people are psycho and insane.

They can be:
Possessive: Kills their love one, so he or she will not fall in love with someone else.
Obsessive: Kills the competition so she or he can be closer to their love.
Examples: Gasai Yuno (Mirai Nikki)
                Sutcliffe Grell (Kuroshitsuji) - In my opinion he is :D
                Sonozaki Shion (Higurashi no naku koro ni)



Kuudere - The character for the start seems to be cold, quiet, serious and unemotional but she/he can be very sweet and soft in the inside.

Examples: Tachibana Kanade (Angel Beats)
                 Sakagami Tomoyo (Clannad)
                 Iwasaki Minami (Lucky Star)
                 Shiina (Angel Beats)

Yangire- At the beginning Yangire seem to be friendly, nice and cute, but later their personality changes and they become aggressive. It can be a result of mental illness. It's similar to Yandere but it isn't a result of love obsession.

Examples: Ryuugu Rena (Higurashi no naku Koro ni)

Dandere - Very quiet person, that rarely speaks and it's very shy. This character avoids contact with other people until the right person comes along. If they get used to someone she/he gets more confident.

Examples: Ichinose Kotomi (Clannad)
                 Hyuuga Hinata (Naruto)
